The Isis Theatre opened in 1912 as a silent movie theatre. Houston’s first upscale movie palace boasted modern architecture and a live orchestral accompaniment for the movies it showcased. It closed in 1928 and has since hosted retail shops; night clubs; a brewery; and drag, vaudeville and burlesque shows.
